Junior Kinesiologist

Job Description:

The Personal Trainer/ Strength Coach/ Kinesiologist is employed to provide the following:

  1. Building programs, teaching, and implementing an individual’s personal fitness and wellness program
  2. Provide and maintain a professional and confidential relationship in which the participant will be instructed on benefits of exercise and proper use of exercise equipment
  3. Motivate and coach individuals or groups in personalized exercise plans
  4. Work with fellow kinesiologists’ in all aspects regarding It’s Time Fitness Results to ensure highest standards are being met

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have; Kinesiology Degree & BCAK Certified member
  • Optional; Personal Training Certification –accepted certifications include:  NSCA, CSCS, ACSM-CPT, ACE, NASM or comparable certification)
  • Certification in CPR, AED and First Aid is required within 30 days of employment
  • Willingness to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and with the possibility to work during holidays
  • Contributes to a positive TEAM dynamic on a daily basis with the emphasis on creating a harmonious work environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Focus on continued education;certifications, workshops reading material, and lectures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Genuine interest in fitness and wellness and a commitment to providing quality service
  • Working knowledge of safe conditioning procedures related to various types of free weight equipment, plate-loaded, and cardiovascular equipment
  • Candidates should be reliable, self-motivated, and able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Well groomed, good hygiene, and visibly respectable appearance
  • Active in keeping a high level of fitness for themselves

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide specialized Kinesiology related programs; ICBC, Active rehab, Hypermobility, Scoliosis, etc
  • To understand insurance protocols regarding client training, billing, and legal aspects
  • To promote fitness, functional movement, and wellness through personalized training programs for the specific individual
  • To educate participants on proper and safe exercise form.
  • To design exercise programs for a variety of participants utilizing the fitness program by combining individual health and fitness goals with fitness assessment results, and adjust exercises on the fly
  • To execute fitness assessment testing based on the Functional Movement Screen
  • To demonstrate expertise in using the weight equipment, free-weights, plate-loaded, and cardiovascular equipment to clients and educate participants on proper and safe exercise form
  • To implement facility rules and regulations in all areas of the fitness area
  • To maintain the safety of the participants, enforce all written policies, and monitor all gym policies regarding safe and proper use of equipment
  • To report any problem or safety concerns to management
  • To understand all policies and procedures
  • To attend if schedule permits, and contribute to, all mandatory staff meetings, continuing education sessions, leadership and diversity trainings
  • To maintain a positive TEAM environment and professional relationship with ALL staff and ALL patrons
  • Greeting and acknowledging all clients by name upon their arrival
  • To know and understand all CPR, AED and First Aid procedures to properly handle an emergency situation and initiate the necessary emergency procedures when applicable
  • To assist in keeping all aspects of the gym clean and tidy: laundry, dishes, equipment, bathrooms, etc
  • To perform administrative and reception duties as scheduled and directed by management:
  1. Customer Service
  2. Booking appointments for the coaches, practitioners, and clients
  3. Processing payments and transactions
  4. Inventory and ordering products
  5. Light Cleaning duties
  6. Marketing – editing and posting blog, and sharing on social media
  7. Assist the owner/administrator in other duties as required
  8. Computer knowledge and aptitude to learn and assist with company management details.
